The comeback: Too soon?

The year is 2008, October.
Britney had just released her smash hit comeback single Womanizer, to huge success.
Yes the comeback of Britney Spears was a glorious one, but just MONTHS before a freshly re-died blonde Spears had appeared back in the public eye with "comeback" plastered all over her, she was a trainwreck. How could one simply transition that drastically in such a short time?

The main answer here is money. There was too much money on the line. Not just for her, but for all the countless people who work for her, industry and label leaders calling shots.

Just months before this comeback, Britney was a disaster. Hundreds of paparazzi following her everywhere, her face on every magazine cover, newspaper front page, internet article and even on prime time news broadcasts. A year full of crazy antics, media accusations and personal family drama's would be enough to leave anyone shattered for years.

So how could someone who would be seen partying every night, someone who shaved their head, broken into paparazzi's cars, been admitted to mental institutions come back fresh eyed, squeaky clean just months later?

Money. Money that makes the world go around. We all know the industry is a dark place but just how dark? Well I think mid breakdown they were already planning her comeback. That's how sick it is.
She was NOT given time to rest, to fully recover, given time to process the aftermath of what happened, given time to be a mother to her two young boys. She was pushed back into the deep end,
The longer they waited, the more money lost

The comeback was a success of course. Womanizer became a huge smash hit selling 8 million copies world wide, with follow up single selling Circus selling another 6.3 million. The album followed, debuting at no.1 worldwide, and a huge tell all documentary "For The Record" broke records and gave us answers. Some answers. Some details as to how she was feeling. Some behind the scenes looks at what went on preparing the comeback but through it all I could see behind her eyes she was still a sad girl. She said it herself.

But once the comeback had started, no one cared about break down Britney anymore, everyone was too hyped to think all that had happened just months prior.
It's sad the music industry.

She had a comeback, but was she really better off? She survived, but did she really?

Britney Primetime Interview 2003

I wanted to talk about an important video for video of the week so I chose the Primetime Interview from 2003.
I chose this for a reason. It's one of her most heartfelt and touching personal interviews.
At the time Britney was at the top of her game. She had just come off three massively successful era's, worldwide tours, movies, countless multi million dollar sponsorship deals, and a high profile break up with boyfriend of the time Justin Timberlake.

During the Interview it starts off light and happy. She talks about her life, defending her musical choices and public image which had been under intense scrutiny for being too sexy, too provocative and that she should tone it down as she was a role model for countless children around the world.
The interview then takes a turn and becomes emotional. She talks about her break up with Justin Timberlake and defends herself against the rumors that she was unfaithful to Justin after his video for "Cry Me A River" featured a Britney impersonator sparked rumors.
She continues to defend her image, saying she's not here to babysit children in response to angry parents disgusted at her sexualised image, and also sets the record straight on the lip syncing rumors.

Yes at 2003 Britneys life was still in a crazy whirlwind and I really think this interview reflects all sides of britney at the time. The sexy worldwide pop phenomenon and the sweet southern humble country girl that she still is at heart.

"Britney" Album/Crossroads

I decided to talk about the "Britney" album so I hope that's fine with all you lovely people reading this! :-)

I have so many memories with this era, the era that debuted her iconic Slave 4 U performance with the live snake and shocked the world with her increasingly sexed up image.
I never got the "Britney" CD for many years until I was older so I never really experienced the era apart from what I saw on Tv ( music videos, interviews) and magazine/newspaper articles but I do fondly remember instantly recognizing her voice on a song that I had never heard before.

Yes it always astounds me that my 6 year old self could tell it was Britney singing on " I Love Rock N Roll" as it played on the radio in the car but I did from the second I heard her voice, even on a song that was completely new to me.

The "Britney" era was groundbreaking for her career. Despite a sexed up image which was met with some negative backlash, mainly from parents and critics complaining she was growing up too fast and over sexualising herself, the album still sold well into the 15 million copies range.

The lead single "I'm A Slave 4 U" sparked a totally new Britney. This wasn't the girl begging us to hit her one more time or pleading that she's not that innocent anymore, this was a young woman ready to bare her mark on the world and so she did. Britney co-wrote a couple tracks on the album, the first time really at the time that she had taken any control in the creative process of the album.

While releasing the "Britney" album she also starred and filmed in the movie "Crossroads" and recorded it's own soundtrack. The soundtrack, featuring songs recorded specifically for the movie( I Love Rock N Roll, I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman & Overprotected) was originally meant to be released as a separate album, but instead was merged with the tracks Britney had written for her third album and so the "Britney" album was born.

"Outrageous"

It's Song Of The Week Day!
I've been listening to my favorite Britney album In The Zone a lot lately and have developed a new love for the song "Outrageous"

The song has an amazing urban seductive vibe which compliment her vocals in the song to sounding the best they have to date at the time she released this. The lyrics displayed Britney at her most confident and oh damn let's talk about that Bridge. I love when Bridges of a song take you to another place and this one certainly takes you there!!

This song was shaping up to be a smash hit until when the accident that stopped the world happened. While filming the music video she fell and injured her knee during some intense choreography and had to be carried off set, furthermore cancelling the video and single release, the rest of her world tour, and basically her entire career as she was put on rest and crutches.

RARE footage of Britney's accident happening during the filming of the Outrageous music video!

Here's what footage they did film for the music video, which starred Britney LICKING SNOOP DOG

Album 9 Info (February)

It's been almost 3 years since the last album ( the fake one we all chose to forget happened due to the circumstances) Britney Jean came out in 2013, and since then Britney has been hard at work since late 2014 working slowly on a new album.

She's been seen leaving the studio countless times now, snaps of her posted on numerous producer and writer Instagram accounts and now some more information has been released, leaving us fans more excited than EVER!

In an interview from Britney's manager Larry, He;s given us these details about the album.
- It's currently over 80% completed and that he's thrilled with it
-Britney said "It's my favorite album I've ever done!"
-"It's different. The last few albums have been pretty straightforward pop. This is different. This is almost like Britney meets The Weeknd"
- He said that it's going to be a really big album, that people are going to love it and that Britney's sounded the best she has in years.

Britney herself then TWEETED that we can expect new music "SOON...VERY SOON"

This is probably in regards to the rumored lead single "Just Love Me" that was recently registered on publishing sites and also tweeted in disguise by Britney months ago.
"JUST finished recording some vox. LOVE this song. It makes ME smile, and I hope it will make you smile too... "

Get ready girls, her best album in YEARS is almost upon us

The Early Days of Britney and I

1998 Britney Time/2001 my time.
My entire life has been devoted to Britney Spears, my life long devotion. It all started when (( I’m guessing the time frame for this would have been around 2001( 5 years old), and I can explain all this in another fun story later)) I discovered some CD’s my mother was throwing out.

I briefly listened to the first song on each and none really caught my eye until I got to the one titled “Baby One More Time” which featured a then 17 year old Britney posing innocently on the cover. I was intrigued. From the first few seconds of the song blaring I was hooked. I would listen to that thing all damn day on my portable CD player that I got for my Christmas present that year.

Little did I know, But Britney had been hard at work, and at world domination from 1998- then. She had released the studio albums “ Baby One More Time”, “Oops I Did It Again” and “Britney”, sold tens of millions of albums, singles, toured worldwide three times already, performed on just about every television promo spot you could, surprise guest performed at the Super Bowl and even starred in her own movie all by the age of 21. But I was oblivious to all this. I knew none of this had happened while I spend my days listening to that one CD.

The Baby One More Time era is one of the most iconic eras of all time. The single Baby One More Time was a huge HUGE worldwide hit, that literally dominated for years. The song is still referenced in movies, television, you name it! The iconic outfit she wore in the hit video is still copied to this very day. The single went on to sell 10m copies worldwide and the album went DIAMOND in the U.S (10x Platinum) and sold 31 million copies worldwide.

Piece Of Me: Revamp Show

It has been years since we have last seen Britney perform at the skill and intensity of her previous in-prime self, but for now, that time has come. She's back. With a Vengeance.

When Britney's new revamped Las Vegas show Piece Of Me returned February 13th it marked an entirely new Britney. Gone was the Britney of the last few years, the one who just lacked that stage presence she used to have.

For the first time in years I TRULY saw the BRITNEY I admired when I was younger. Yes ladies and gentleman, Britney Spears is BACK.

From the minute the show starts you know all has changed. New outfits, new songs, amazing new choreography and a stage presence that literally oozes out prime Britney.

Fans will be delighted that 2 of the new song additions are 2 ultimate fan classics taken from arguably her best album In The Zone. Yes, "Breathe On Me" and "Touch Of My Hand" the songs that have only had about 3 different performances in her ENTIRE CAREER have returned.

It's almost like a replica of her 2004 self performing them like when she did in a nude sparkling bodysuit and pink lingerie instead now she rocks a flawless red outfit.

Here's the 2004 and new 2016 performances of her sex anthem "Breathe On Me"

Other new song additions are If U Seek Amy and I Love Rock N Roll which brings back the old giant guitar stage prop from her 2011 Femme Fatale world tour.
Numerous songs have had total choreography overhauls including my personal favorites Womanizer and Gimme More
